Environmental Monitoring Unit (Unit of a special nature)
Vision:
This unit seeks to Leadership and excellence towards an environmentally sustainable society free from environmental problems.
Mission
The unit works to provide consultations and effective solutions to get rid of environmental problems,
assessing the environmental impact of development projects in various fields and contributing to the development
of plans to reconcile the conditions of environmentally outgoing enterprises, as well as spreading sustainable environmental awareness of local resources and reaching global standards through:
(1) Activating the contribution to sustainable development issues in Minia society by studying and proposing
the general policy for sustainable development and plans and programs to ensure the achievement of the university’s role in community service and environmental development.
(2) Maintaining the sustainability of environmental health through reviewing the environmental impact assessment
with the aim of providing scientific and technical advice to solve environmental problems and for environmental development projects.
(3) Preparing a team of young “environmental protectors” as trained cadres for sustainability and continuity.
(4) Providing environmental technical consultations to government agencies, the institutional private sector, and individuals.
(5) Designing, supervising and conducting environmental safety programs for all sectors of Egyptian society
(6) Conducting field applied research in various environmental fields.
(7) Developing the environmental capabilities and skills of society and individuals.
(8) Introducing environmental issues and challenges to all.
(9) Studying and proposing a general policy for environmental training and organizing scientific conferences and symposia.
(10) Presenting organized and integrated scientific and practical studies and plans that qualify the establishments to obtain
environmental licenses from all the competent authorities.
(11) Assisting companies, organizations and individuals in moving towards a green economy.
(12) Compliance of industrial establishments with Egyptian standards and specifications and international standards.
(13) Reducing the deterioration of mineral, quarry and biological resources (animal, fish and agricultural) in order to preserve the economies
of future generations.
(14) Working hand in hand with decision makers to achieve excellence and environmental leadership through investing in environmental projects,
mitigating the effects of pollution, safe disposal, and re-utilization of waste to achieve an integrated environmental performance system.
Goals

Developing the knowledge and skill aspect, increasing expertise and following up on developments in the field of consulting, studies and environmental maintenance services, by adopting and supporting a package of services, consultations, programs and events related to environmental protection and the recommendations presented, and setting up viable programs as a final product for the issue of consultation for the benefit and added value to the beneficiaries
Second: Academic Goals
(1) Work to encourage and develop the relationship between the university and the local community and contribute to solving environmental problems and obstacles that limit the implementation of development projects in all sectors.
(2) Identifying environmental problems, issues and challenges and communicating with governmental institutions and local and international organizations concerned with environmental issues in order to exchange experiences and opinions and take advantage of the capabilities available to each of them.
(3) Contribute and participate in providing solutions and opinions to problems of local and international interest.
(4) Participation and contribution to achieving scientific environmental awareness and rationalizing society towards the optimal use of the natural resources of the environment through the issuance of publications, magazines and pamphlets.
(5) Participation in the development of environmental legislation for natural resources and their management, holding seminars and training programs, and granting training certificates indicating that, individually or in cooperation with the competent bodies.
(6) Making plans to reconcile the situation of environmentally troubled companies.
(7) Carry out economic feasibility studies and make (SWOT) analysis for environmental projects and facilities.
(8) Providing environmental consultations for development projects, assessing their effects, and creating an environmental record for them.
(9) Design, supervise and implement environmental projects on sound environmental scientific bases, and obtain licenses to practice their activities.
(10) To make the necessary coordination between decision makers and owners of industrial development establishments regarding the emergence of any environmental problems in order to achieve the objectives of the center as an independent scientific house of expertise.
(11) Cooperating with research centers and relevant institutions at the local and international levels to serve the center's objectives.
(12) Work to establish and manage a database of environmental activities and projects in the area of his jurisdiction.
(13) Adopt research projects related to the center's objectives and work to provide financial support for them through donor institutions locally and internationally.
(14) Working and providing an environmental analysis service for those interested in all moral and legal considerations inside and outside the region.

Unit Activity Plan:
1- Creating a website for the unit on the faculty’s website to monitor environmental problems from villages and community centers in Minia, receive requests for environmental consultations for development projects, evaluate their effects, and create an environmental record for them.
2- Examining environmental problems, issues and challenges on the ground and communicating with governmental institutions and local and international organizations concerned with environmental issues in order to exchange experiences and opinions and take advantage of the capabilities available to each of them.
3- Contribute and participate in providing solutions and satisfactory opinions for these problems, issues and environmental challenges that are monitored.
4- Participating and contributing to achieving scientific environmental awareness and rationalizing society towards the optimal use of the natural resources of the environment through the issuance of publications, magazines and pamphlets.
